Hot Purple Mama! Run Like A Mother Joys & Adrenaline Highs!

Next to homemade cards and big hugs, Run Like A Mother (RLAM) is truly the BEST Mother's Day gift a mom will receive. Thank you to RLAM founder Megan Searfoss for your hard work and for empowering mothers to be healthy, strong, and confident.

Run Like A Mother 5K (RLAM) founder, Megan Searfoss, welcomed thousands of runners and fans to the Annual Mother's Day (RLAM) in Ridgefield - a Mother’s Day morning filled with sunshine and excitement.

Present at the start line was First Selectman, Rudy Marconi, Megan Searfoss, and the legendary Big Daddy who invigorated runners with an A+ song list! Talented vocalist Claire Simard, Ridgefielder and Chair of Drama and Theater Arts at Wooster, sang the National Anthem minutes before a pack of purple shirts took to the pavement for this, the 11th anniversary of Run Like A Mother.

The race began at The Ridgefield Playhouse and after running through downtown Ridgefield, athletes crossed the finish line in Ballard Park where they were greeted by happy volunteers who awarded the runners a 2018 Finisher's medal and a Roses for Autism rose.

Adrenaline-filled athletes, along with friends and family members extended the RLAM celebration in the park where refreshments, relaxation stations, and activities awaited - thanks to the event sponsors.

The first female to finish the 5k was Nora McGrath of Ridgefield with a time of 20 minutes. View the race results here.

Proceeds from the Mother's Day race benefited noreen l. papa "mothers: live your life" fund at the Ridgefield Library.

The mission of Run Like a Mother® is to fuel a woman's journey toward health and wellness, empower with education and training programs, inspire with communities, events and races, enable through programs and partnerships. About the noreen l papa fund:

Established at the Ridgefield Library in 2014 in partnership with her family and friends, the Mothers: Live Your Life fund honors Noreen L. Papa, a Ridgefield mom, library advocate and early supporter of the Run Like A Mother 5K who died of colon cancer in 2013. The fund supports Library programs and collections dedicated to women's health and wellness, specifically to educating mothers to take care of themselves so they can take care of others.
