Ridgefield Storm Restoration: Crushed Cars, Trees on Houses, Downed Wires

Ridgefield Storm Restoration Update: Thursday, May 17 - Schools Closed, Parks & Rec Open for Showers/Charging

Schools are closed for the second consecutive day following a destructive storm on Tuesday. This morning, First Selectman Rudy Marconi said, "We have a tremendous amount of devastation in the northern part of town with crushed cars, trees on houses and many downed wires. These conditions are unsafe and we fully support the decision to close schools today. Listen to the usual sources for school delays or closing information."

He also informed residents that Ridgefield Parks & Recreation at 195 Danbury Road is open tonight until 10 for showers and charging and will reopen ago 6am. Potable water hoses can be found on the left side as you face the building. Bring your own containers.

Continue to call Eversource at 800-286-2000 to report power outages and please consider all downed wires live. Special needs population should contact the fire department at 203-431-2724 for needed services.

You can check the Ridgefield CERT Facebook page or ridgefieldct.org for continuing information on road closures.
