Troop 76 Boy Scout, Charlie Snow, to implement his Eagle Project tomorrow at Ridgefield Recycling Center

Tomorrow, September 8, a new way to recycle plastic wrap, film and bags will be implemented at the Ridgefield Recycling Center.

Wooster School student and Boy Scout Troop 76 member, Charlie Snow, will be inaugurating a new plastic wrap collection system at the Ridgefield Recycling Center as part of his Eagle Scout Project. For his project, he built two wooden, waterproof enclosures around new recycling bins specifically designed to collect plastic bags, film and wrap. This will make it much easier for the Town of Ridgefield to collect and recycle these items properly. Charlie will be at the center tomorrow, September 8, from 11 am and 12 noon, handing out recycling cards (see above) that show what items can be recycled in these new bins.

As part of his project, he also led Troop 76 in clearing the overgrown vines and weeds around the Recycling Center fence and emptying the ScoutsCAN bins. He hopes this will encourage residents to keep donating their plastic bottles and cans to the ScoutsCAN bins, as the money collected from deposits goes to local organizations, such as the Ridgefield Food Pantry.

The Ridgefield Recycling Center is located at 59 South Street. For more information, please click here.
