Cheers to Ridgefield's Inaugural Sunset Wine Party!

Ridgefield's First Annual Wine Week came to a grand close last night with a Sunset Wine Party which took place at the Lounsbury House. Benefiting The Ridgefield Playhouse and Ridgefield Independent Film Festival, the event’s major sponsor was Ancona’s Wines & Liquors.

HamletHub would like to raise a glass to Ridgefield resident Paula Alonso, the brainchild and powerhouse behind Ridgefield Wine Week and co-founder and CEO of Wine Revolution, USA.

Did you know? The (grape) seeds were planted earlier this year when local realtor Peggy Marconi met Alonso and had the privilege of finding her the perfect home in Ridgefield. Learning about Alonso’s desire to bring a seven-day wine experience to town while promoting the consumption of wine in local businesses, Marconi reached out to some wine-loving locals, one of whom was Mitch Ancona.

With the help and support of many local businesses, the seeds that were planted quickly germinated and Ridgefield Wine Week was born.

The fruits of Alonso’s labor were truly appreciated last night as hundreds of guests flocked to Main Street to taste 80 wines carefully selected by Ancona's Wines & Liquors and to sample decadent food pairings expertly crafted by Executive Chef Giuseppe Castellano from Gallo Ristorante. Top wine distributors in the region shared their wine knowledge, giving tasters insight into the vineyards, the farming history of the crops, and even the pioneers behind the vintage.

The evening was perfect - as guests sipped wine on the picturesque balcony of the Lounsbury House, they were even treated to a Ridgefield sunset.

Thank you to all who made Ridgefield inaugural wine week and Sunset Wine Party one to cheer about!
