Ridgefield BOE Announces Successor Contract Agreement with NEA-R

The Board is pleased to announce that it has negotiated an agreement with the NEA- R for a successor contract that will be in effect between 2019-2022.

According to Fran Walton, BOE chair, the Agreement recognizes the Board’s commitment to providing salaries and benefits which attract and retain excellent teachers for our schools.  The Agreement also provides quality health benefits for our certified staff while recognizing the need to constrain health costs.  "In order to mitigate and control cost to the Board, teachers negotiated a larger share of the cost of healthcare, including adding managed elements to the plan.  The Board thanks the NEA-R for their willing collaboration in achieving a balance that offers fair benefits and wages and acknowledges the fiscal realities for our tax-payers," said Walton.

Dave Ulmer, Board of Finance chair said, “As the BoF representative observer in these negotiations, I thank both sides for reaching a satisfactory settlement, and particularly for their joint efforts to reduce the escalation of healthcare premiums.”
