Where's the Beef? Founders Hall Reveals Required Appetizer Ingredient, Chefs to Battle it Out June 2

Battle of the Chefs - And the Required Ingredient is… 

The Battle of Chefs is a unique culinary event foodies and eaters alike need to know about. Now in its 7th year, it will take place on Sunday, June 2 from 4 – 7 PM at Founders Hall in Ridgefield, CT. Battle of the Chefs has been described as a cross between Food Network’s Chopped and Bravo’s Top Chef. This year six professional Connecticut chefs will compete in teams of two. There are three phases to the Battle: appetizer, entrée, and dessert.

While the chefs go into the entrée round blind (meaning they have no idea what ingredients they will be cooking with until they open the basket of ingredients provided to them), they are told what the mandatory appetizer ingredient is beforehand so they can plan!

Drumroll please: The surprise, required ingredient for the appetizer round is…HANGER STEAK!

Hanger steak is a cut of beef from the diaphragm that’s also known as ‘the butcher's steak’ due to its prized flavor. Here’s what each competing chef had to say when they learned they’ll be working with hanger steak:

Each team will be tasked with creating an appetizer using hanger steak, and their creations will be judged by event attendees and a panel of three expert judges. The hanger steak is being provided by Chefs’ Warehouse and the big reveal was spearheaded by Chefs’ Warehouse Marketing Coordinator, Stacy Sullivan.

  •          General admission: $100 (includes lots of eats, open bar, live entertainment)
  •          Chefs’ Table: $500 (includes all the above and a coveted seat at the chefs’ table where they will get to sample a portion of the chef duo’s entrée creations)
