Ridgefield High School graduate (2015) and Trinity College (Hartford, CT) Baseball senior captain Johnny Stamatis is having a big week!
His college career might be coming to a close at Trinity College's graduation this weekend, but Stamatis still has a few baseball games to play as a Bantam as part of the Div. III NCAA Regional Tournament. See schedule here.
Stamatis was also one of only 13 elite spring student-athletes in the New England Small College Athletic Conference named to an All-NESCAC Team, the NESCAC Spring All-Academic Team, and the All-Sportsmanship Team.
Stamatis is a 2019 All-NESCAC Baseball Second Team select for the second time. In 2016, his rookie season, he was also selected to the All-NESCAC Second Team. To receive NESCAC All-Academic recognition, an individual must have reached sophomore academic standing and be a varsity letter winner with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.40. Stamatis is a two-time NESCAC All-Academic honoree. The All-Sportsmanship Team recognizes student-athletes who exhibit respect for themselves, teammates, coaches, opponents, and spectators. They display sportsmanship not only as a participant in their sport but also as a spectator and in their everyday lives.
Additionally, Stamatis was recently named to the 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District Baseball Team, selected by CoSIDA. The 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Read more here.
Congratulations Johnny on a great collegiate career!
