Ridgefield COVID-19 Cases at 81, Expected to Rise in Coming Weeks

This afternoon, First Selectman Rudy Marconi was joined with Ridgefield Health Director, Ed Briggs, Police Chief Jeff Kreitz, and Director of Emergency Management, Dick Aarons. We learned from Briggs that since the report this morning, an additional six residents have tested positive for COVID-19 bringing the town total to 81. The ages of those with the virus range from 2 to 101.

According to Briggs, each person with the virus contaminates an average of eight people (without knowing it). He said that as testing increases, Ridgefield could see 500 to 600 residents with COVID-19.

We learned today from Briggs, that cases are expected to rise in the next three weeks before leveling off and finally dropping. It is not known how long that will take.

First Selectman Rudy Marconi reminded the community that anyone coming to Ridgefield from New York City must self-quarantine for 14 days.

Chief Jeff Kreitz reported that some vehicles were rummaged through and one stolen. He urges residents to lock their cars and take out the keys.
