Ridgefield's Landmark Fountain Bare and Beautiful

Coat of Armour Removed from Cass Gilbert Fountain

The Cass Gilbert Fountain, in all its glory, has become a town 'rite of passage', and a true sign that the seasons are changing. Whether it is bedecked for the holidays, or artfully decorated with glorious flowers, passersby are reminded that time has not stood still.

Today, the outer 'cage' of the fountain was removed. Spring flowers in full bloom will soon surround this town landmark (but it's beautiful just as it is!) Thank you to Jessica Collins for this amazing photo - taken this morning!

Our beautiful Cass Gilbert Fountain was donated to the town in 1916 by renowned architect Cass Gilbert, within sight of his summer home in the historic Keeler Tavern. During his time in Ridgefield, Gilbert designed the 1913 Woolworth Building, for many years the world’s tallest skyscraper, as well as the 1935 Supreme Court Building in Washington, D.C.
