Ab at home: beauty necessities and tips to survive the quarantine

Ab at-home beauty necessities and tips to get your through the quarantine

Oh, my hair! If you are taking the time to blow dry your hair, think about how to make it last longer. The ¾ updo, pulling all the hair from around your face up into a top knot… lightly hairspray OR spray with dry shampoo. The next morning, remove the topknot and brush your hair from roots to ends with a natural bristle brush.

Time to unwind and relax. Hey if it works for Madonna…if your pantry includes instant dry powdered milk, a cup of the powdered granules added to your bath will soothe skin and feel luxurious.

Gel nails that need attention now? Everyone who wears gel polish knows how removal works. After soaking your nails with cotton wrapped in foil, use a wood manicure stick to gently lift the old gel polish off. If a spot is difficult just ignore it until it is ready to flake off. Aggressive removal can remove the top layer of your nail. Lightly buff the surface of your nails, then soak your nails in warm oil (anything in the kitchen cupboard), and massage the soil in. It’s good to do this in the evening so it will soak in during the overnight hours when you are taking a break from handwashing.

Handwashing takes a toll on hands, disposable gloves are a perfect opportunity to boost your hand cream’s effectiveness …apply when you change gloves and end your stay in place or quarantine period with softer smoother hands. Pat excess hand cream off with a clean towel when you remove the gloves taking time to gently push back your cuticles.

Hey, those face masks are not doing you any good shoved in a drawer. Set them out, and use them often! When you take them off your face, if it is still moist, wrap it on heels, placing it under a pair of sox …or cut a piece to fit the back of your hand.

Avocados on my face? Why yes! If you purchased too many avocados, smash them up and do a facial by applying to clean, dry skin. Wash off with cool water when dry. Or, if you want to eat all of the avocados, save the skin! Rub the inside of the peel on your face (where there is often some green goodness left).

Humidifiers are smart and skin-friendly and are not just for sickness. Keep one ready to use in the bedroom and use it at night for better sleep and moisture retention of your skin or to relieve dry nasal passages and stressed skin.
