Eversource Announces Restoration Times by Town

Editor's note: Eversource stands by "Tuesday at 11:59 pm" restoration time for Ridgefield. However, there are several towns that they expect will see the light sooner, including Redding (Monday at 11:59 pm) and Darien (Monday at 6pm). Please see the complete info courtesy of Eversource below.

Estimated times of restoration by town have been announced. We will continue to update this page as towns become substantially complete. While many of the town estimates show completion on Monday and Tuesday, we do expect to have 90% of all customers in service by Sunday evening.

We continue to work urgently to restore power to our customers. We estimate we will make significant progress by the end of the weekend, and have restoration substantially complete by Tuesday at 11:59 p.m.

Substantially complete means fewer than 1 percent of customers are still without power. Many customers will be back in power sooner.

  • Since Friday, more than 125,000 customers have been restored and more crews continue to flow into the state
  • As of 1 p.m. Saturday, there are approximately 278,000 customers without service
  • We have worked hard to prioritize and restore critical infrastructure and facilities such as hospitals, water treatment plants, fire and police departments and airports. As of 8 a.m. Saturday, 557 of the 860 identified critical facilities have been restored, and those still left remain a top priority.

With more than 1,500 crews on the ground, if you see one in your area, for the health and safety of everyone, please keep your distance and allow them to focus on their critical work.

Crews are working around the clock to repair the extensive damage to the electric system caused by this devastating tropical storm. We have identified about 172 miles of downed wire to be repaired, which is the approximate distance from Hartford to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

We know how urgently those still out need power back – especially right now given the pandemic and hot summer weather. We will not rest until this restoration is complete.

Here are some potential safety hazards to be on the look-out for:

  • If all of your neighbors have their power back on, but yours is still out, report your outage again by calling 800-286-2000.
  • If you require emergency shelter, either because of damage to your home, the temperature or other reasons, please contact the American Red Cross online or by dialing 211.
  • If you have to drive, watch out for trees and wires in the roadway. Do not drive across a downed power line. Treat all nonworking traffic lights as stop signs and proceed cautiously at intersections.
  • Stay clear of all fallen tree limbs and electrical wires as well as anything they are touching—such as puddles and metal fences.
  • Notify local fire, police, and electric utility officials about downed power lines.
  • Do not enter damaged buildings with flame lanterns, candles or lighted cigarettes because there may be gas leaks.
  • If you smell gas, leave immediately. Get to a safe place and call 911.
  • Plug in and then turn on your appliances one at a time to avoid a power surge.
