Ridgefield COVID Community Update: New Cases, Halloween, Safety Protocols

Halloween Events

During these unprecedented times, it is more important than ever that we as a community work together to stop the spread of Covid-19. As you already know, the annual Halloween Walk in Town was cancelled.

The Spooktacular Drive-Thru Halloween Event at the Lounsbury House will take place Saturday, October 31, 2020 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is sponsored by the Ridgefield Police Department in conjunction with the Ridgefield Theater Barn. This event is open to Ridgefield residents only and does require pre-registration. You must stay in your cars.

Trick or Treating

My office has been advised that a number of Main Street residents will not be distributing candy this year due to Covid-19. Having experienced multiple positive cases this past week, please help us make our best attempt to avoid becoming a red zone.

New COVID Cases

Ridgefield has had nine positive cases since the end of last week. In order to avoid further restrictions, which will require a more aggressive town response level, please err on the side of safety. If possible, refrain from any direct contact with trick or treaters on Halloween. This pandemic is still very active. Please practice Covid-19 protocols:

  • Wear face masks, social distance by at least 6 feet and wash hands frequently
  • Keep activities outdoors

Holiday Travel/Gatherings

With the upcoming holidays around the corner, this is a time of year where many families look to travel or have gatherings with extended family and friends. Both travel and gatherings with people outside of your immediate family increase the chance of spreading the Covid-19 virus. Please rethink your holiday plans.

Practice Safety!

We ask that you continue to consider yourself and others in our community by practicing proper social distancing and the wearing of face coverings in all public spaces whether on sidewalks, in common areas, while shopping or at sporting events.

It is important that small businesses, nonprofits and all residents also continue to post Covid-19 safety guidelines as a reminder for all to see. Together, we can continue to keep Ridgefield safe and healthy.

If you should have any questions or concerns, please email my office at selectman@ridgefieldct.org or 203-431-2774.
