Ridgefield Moves to COVID Orange Zone, Rudy Marconi Forms Task Force

Due to the rise of COVID-19 in Connecticut, effective immediately, the entire state has rolled over to Phase 2.1, a newly defined phase with elements of 2 and 3.

In the state’s color-coded system of severity, Ridgefield recently moved from yellow (average of 5-9 cases per 100k) to orange (average of 10-14 cases per 100k per day) and has inched uncomfortably close to red (average of 15 cases per 100k per day).  The color codes indicate what level of response the state expects each town to take. You can see all of the Phase 2.1 Rules here.

In order to help Ridgefield better understand how the state provided data affects the town’s response, First Selectman Rudy Marconi has formed a task force made up of town officials and community members with relevant skill sets.  Information will be provided weekly via all media sources as well as on the town website beginning the afternoon on Tuesday, November 10.

Major changes under Phase 2.l include:

  •        Restaurants (including restaurants with bars), entertainment and recreation venues and both indoor and outdoor events at commercial venues must close in-person service at 10pm. (Takeout and delivery may continue later.)
  •        Restaurant indoor capacity capped at 50% with 6ft spacing and non-porous barriers, and the max number of guests at one table is capped at 8.
  •        Private social gatherings at commercial venues is capped at 25 indoor and 50 outside.
  •        Private (in residence) social gatherings are capped at 10 people both inside and outdoor.
  •        Indoor religious services may operate at 50% capacity but must be capped at 100 people with 6 ft spacing between parties.  Outdoor services are no change from Phase 3.
  •        Indoor performing arts theatres may operate at 50% capacity with a cap of 100 people.
  •        Outdoor municipal spaces capped at 500 max as long as social distancing and mask wearing is mandated.
  •        Personal Services and Libraries will remain the same as Phase 3 rules.

In all cases follow the 3 W’s:  Wear your mask, Wash your hands and Watch your distance!

The article's chart shows Ridgefield’s current New Case Rate along with that of Fairfield County and the State of CT.

While we are currently in the Orange Alert Level, you should note that we have recently been crossing into the Red Alert Zone and are closely monitoring this situation.
