Thank you to the Boys & Girls Club of Ridgefield for connecting us by way of the 2020 Virtual Turkey Trot! Runners from as far as Ireland joined in solidarity in the name of the Club and in honor of Thanksgiving!
For the first time in history, the Boys & Girls Club Turkey Trot was virtual! This, the 39th annual event, took place over the course of six days, with runners logging their times on the official race page (If you haven’t recorded your time yet, click here).
connected this year, as we have Turkey Trotters running all over - in California, New York, Wyoming, Georgia, Washington DC, and even as far away as Ireland! Even though we can't all be together, the virtual platform has connected all of us this year from wherever we are celebrating and we are grateful for that.
And, while a virtual race means you can run from anywhere, some wanted to hold true to tradition and run the actual Turkey Trot route. The Club made it easy by marking the route and displaying a large Turkey Trot map in the parking lot. This morning, there were a few families running together and rest assured, we all made as much noise as possible to show our Turkey Trot support!
Mike Flynn, Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club of Ridgefield, said that nearly 300 people registered to participate in the 5k. Results are still coming in but you can check out the runners and times here.
Flynn said, “A heartfelt THANK YOU to this year’s Turkey Trot sponsors, all of whom are long-time sponsors of this annual fundraiser. We would not be celebrating our 39th Turkey Trot without their ongoing support and commitment to our Club and our Club kids. It’s no secret that this has been a difficult year for us financially, but we have made more of an impact in our community than we have ever before – thank you for making that possible. We are grateful to all!”
