Ridgefield High School Cancels Midterm Exams

Today, Ridgefield High School Principal Jake Greenwood announced that due to the number of disruptions to the academic schedule, midterm exams are canceled.

According to Greenwood, given the absence of midterm exams, the weight of the quarters will be distributed evenly (see image #2).

"Many different factors informed this decision made by the Leadership Team at RHS. While it is challenging to administer these types of summative assessments in a hybrid environment, we also know that these days at the end of the semester would be better used to regain some of our lost instructional time," said Greenwood.

"The Leadership Team and faculty all recognize that high-stakes exams are not in the best interest of our students in this environment and our focus will remain on instruction and authentic (formative) assessment of student learning," he continued.

No decision has been made in regard to final exams at this time and Greenwood said that they will make that decision closer to the end of the school year based on the learning model at that time.
