Ridgefield's landmark Cass Gilbert Fountain is coming up daisies and petunias thanks to Fountain Committee members Mary Hicks and Jacquie Andry. The ladies were caught in action this morning - shovels, gardening gloves in hand.
New to the Fountain flower scene are EZ daisies in a stunning bright yellow. Hicks said she chose them for their color and height and because they bloom ALL summer! Hicks and Andry are interspersing them with petunias.
Ridgefield’s landmark fountain was donated to the town in 1916 by renowned architect Cass Gilbert, within sight of his summer home in the historic Keeler Tavern. During his time in Ridgefield, Gilbert designed the 1913 Woolworth Building, for many years the world’s tallest skyscraper, as well as the 1935 Supreme Court Building in Washington, D.C.
