UPDATE: Power Restored for Most of Ridgefield - Extreme Heat and Energy Use Cause Power Overload, More Than 50% of Ridgefield Offline

Update: 5:15 pm most residents have now had power restored! Eversource reports 581 or 5.28% are still without power.

Update: 3:40 pm - First Selectman Rudy Marconi says crew arrived in Town and are working to restore power. "Preliminary guess is that it will take a few hours, but it could be lont=ger as they get into the issue," he reports.

Today, at approximately 2:10, most of Ridgefield went dark.

Social media began buzzing immediately and some posters indicated that their power was restored within minutes. That wasn't true for most residents.

According to Eversource, as of 3:15pm today, more than half the town was without power.

Ridgefield Emergency Management said, "We are aware of significant power outages throughout town. Eversource states that it may be due to grid overloading due to the extreme temperature and electricity usage.
Eversource will communicate restoration times to customers directly."
