RPS Hires Dr. Annie Tucci to Be Grade 6-12 Humanities Supervisor

Ridgefield Public Schools announced today the appointment of Annie Tucci, Ed.D., as the new Grade 6-12 Humanities Supervisor. Dr. Tucci comes to Ridgefield from the Danbury Public Schools, where she was the Social Studies Department Chair and Testing Coordinator. She was a classroom teacher in the New Canaan School District from 2010-2016. From her home in Danbury, Dr. Tucci commented, “I am so excited to bring my expertise in curriculum and instruction to support the goals of the Ridgefield Public Schools. I believe that this position incorporates all of the skills and strategies that I have worked to build over the last decade! I am eager to begin the work to ensure that our teachers have everything necessary to engage our children in meaningful, authentic, and active learning experiences.”

RPS Superintendent of Schools, Susie Da Silva said that Dr. Tucci stood out after an extensive search process. “The committee was struck with her references, relevant experience, and demonstrated passion,” said Dr. Da Silva. “Dr. Tucci will round out the outstanding RPS Curriculum Team under Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, Cory Gillette.”

In her application for the position, Dr. Tucci wrote, “An excellent administrator not only supports student and teacher growth but reflects on their own capacity. Continually learning about best practices in and out of the classrooms will help administrators to continue that growth and redefine leadership.”

“Hard-working,” “efficient,” “effective,” “professional,” and “passionate” are just a few of the many glowing adjectives Dr. Tucci’s references used to describe her. Patricia Gonzalez at Danbury High School wrote, “Her rapport with teachers is down-to-earth, honest, and kind. Where she sees passion, it is explored and encouraged. When she needs to tell a hard truth, it is grounded in high expectations and respect.”

Dr. Julia Ferreira, Assistant Principal at Saxe Middle School in New Canaan, added: “Dr. Tucci is a natural leader committed to continual growth, elevating not only her own practice but that of those around her. Her talents contribute to a marked impact on the curriculum and instruction of the organizations in which she works. In short, Annie's body of work, engaging personality, and collaborative nature make her an ideal candidate for a district leadership position.”

She will begin on July 19, 2021.  Welcome to the District, Annie!
