Ridgefield Public Schools has released a Draft Safe Return Plan

Physical distancing

● Classrooms will aim three to six feet where feasible. Three feet distance between students
may not be feasible in all settings.

Masks

● On August 5, 2021, Governor Lamont released an Executive Order indicating that all individuals inside of school buildings must wear masks, regardless of vaccination status. The CSDE will be releasing its own guidelines regarding mask-wearing and other health/safety strategies prior to the start of the school year.

● RPS will continue to follow CSDE requirements for mask-wearing inside schools and on school campuses

CONTINUITY OF LEARNING

School day hours

● RPS will return to a full school day, adding back into the day the 40 minutes of time reduced during the 2020-21 school year.

Hybrid model and cohorting

● A hybrid option will not be made available for students in the 2021-22 school year.

Remote learning option

● A fully remote/virtual option will not be made available to students.
● Those students who have medical complications whose doctors believe are unable to physically attend school may consult with their school administration and nurse regarding learning program options.

Calendar

The first day of school for K through grade 9 is August 30. 

The first day of school for grades 10-12 is August 31.

Please note: occasionally weather conditions may worsen later in the day. In such instances, students will be dismissed as soon as buses arrive at schools. It is recommended that parents discuss a plan with their children if this were to happen.
