Ridgefield Forecast: Flash Flooding and Severe Weather Possible this Afternoon through Early Friday

Showers and thunderstorms are expected ahead and along a slow-moving cold front this afternoon through early Friday.

 Heaviest rain from around 5-7 PM this evening through 1-3 AM Fri for NYC, Western Long Island, NE NJ, SW CT, and Lower Hudson Valley.

 Heaviest rain from around 10PM-midnight tonight through 6-8AM Fri for Central and Eastern Long Island as well as Southeastern CT from New Haven to New London.

 Highest chances of thunderstorms tonight into early Friday.

HAZARDS & IMPACTS

 Flash Flooding: 1 to 2 inches of total rainfall with up to near 3 inches locally. Rainfall rates of ½ to 1 inch per hour. Scattered flash flooding of urban and poor drainage areas is possible. Minor flooding along small streams and creeks could occur.

 Damaging Wind: Wind gusts in excess of 58 mph could damage trees and power lines and result in scattered power outages.

 Tornadoes: An Isolated tornado can not be ruled out tonight into early Friday.
