Coastal Storm to Bring Prolonged Rain, Winds

Coastal Storm Monday Night into Wednesday 

A coastal storm will bring a prolonged period of rain, heavy at times, as well as the potential for localized flash flooding, strong winds, coastal flooding, and beach erosion.

Eversource is moving into its storm prep mode, according to Dick Aarons, Town of Ridgefield Emergency Manager. 

Highlights from NWS below:

 Storm Total Rainfall: 2 to 4 inches, with locally higher amounts possible.

 Rainfall Rates: ½-1”/hour at times.

 Rain Impacts: Localized flash flooding of urban and poor drainage areas. Fast-responding rivers and small streams may experience flooding.

 Wind Impacts: Strong wind gusts 30-45 mph, especially along coast, could bring down some trees and power lines.

 Coastal Flooding Impacts: Mainly minor coastal flooding, localized moderate. Beach erosion is also possible. TIMING

 Flash Flood Threat: Mon night into Tues evening.

 Strong Wind Threat: Tues afternoon into Wed.

 Coastal Flooding Threat: High tide cycles Tues afternoon into Wed. NWS ALERTS

 Flash Flood Watch: 8pm Monday through 5pm Tuesday

 Gale Watch on all waters: 8am Tuesday through 6 am Wednesday
