The Story Behind The Red, White, and Blue Holiday Lights in Downtown Ridgefield

Ridgefield's Main Street is a sight to behold during the holiday season. And, when the sun sets, the trees sparkle. But not all of the lights in the downtown area are white. Ever wonder why the trees in front of Fairfield County Bank Insurance Service at 401 Main Street, are adorned with the colors of the American flag?

"In 2004, Ridgefield High School's graduating class included six young men who were being deployed to the Middle East as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. That year, the Town of Ridgefield included a patriotic theme to the tree lighting and decorations," explains Fairfield County Bank Insurance Company.

Continuing the tribute, each winter Downtown Ridgefield lights the trees on the corner of Main and Catoonah with our nation's flag.

First Selectman Rudy Marconi says, "These lights are a reminder that not everyone gets to be home for the holidays."
