Ridgefield Weather: Potential for Strong to Severe Thunderstorms this Afternoon and Evening

According to the National Weather Service, a frontal system approaching the area will provide for the potential of strong to severe thunderstorms to develop this afternoon and evening.

Overview:

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected ahead of an approaching cold front this afternoon and
evening.

 A few/several of these thunderstorms could become strong to severe.

Hazards/Impacts:

 Damaging Wind Gusts (Primary Hazard): Isolated to scattered wind gusts in excess of 58 mph could damage trees and power lines and
result in localized power outages.

 Large Hail (Secondary Hazard): Localized 1” hail could result in minor damage to motor vehicles.

 Heavy Rainfall (Secondary Hazard): Localized urban and poor drainage flooding possible.

 Low risk for a brief tornado.
