A Breath of Fresh Air for Ridgefield Public Schools

Superintendent Susie Da Silva is working with several members of the RPS Administration on an application for the HVAC Indoor Air Quality State Grant, which aims to encourage municipalities to improve indoor air quality by installing, replacing or upgrading HVAC Systems in public schools.

If the grant is approved, Ridgefield could save an estimated $165,000 toward an air quality upgrade project that was already in the pipeline for the 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 budgets.

The proposed project provides a range of upgrades across nine different school buildings. The list of improvements includes installing and/or replacing new heat pumps, cooling units, HVAC systems, exhaust fans, and several other system mechanisms, all intended to better the air quality for our students and staff.

The grant process is lengthy, and the approval is not a guarantee, however, our administration is doing everything possible to secure it. I think we can all breathe easy knowing that the goal of keeping our children healthy and safe is always a continued priority.
