Twelve Local Ways to Give Back this Holiday Season

 

The holidays are coming and it’s a fabulous opportunity give back to our wonderful community! Ridgefield is an incredibly philanthropic town with many nonprofits, and a lot of these organizations hold festive holiday fundraisers. Check out a few of our favorites, and tell us in the comments on social media which ones you enjoy best!

  1. The 18th Annual Library Days at Books on the Common will take place November 25-27. Customers can simply show their Ridgefield Library card at the cash register, and 15% of the proceeds of their purchase will be donated by the bookstore to the Library.
  2. The Grinch Mobile is all spruced up to go out visiting all the little ones in Ridgefield. This year is dedicated to the memory of Logan Hale and to continuing his mission of putting video games into the hands of children undergoing treatment in hospitals.
  3. Lounsbury House invites you to ‘Snow Place Like Home,’ a collaborative fundraiser and creative display of ‘snow people.’ Visitors are invited to walk the grounds December 1-12, view the beautiful window displays from our historic veranda and are encouraged to vote online for their favorite snowperson(s). 
  4. Ridgefield Guild of Artists invites you to a holiday party and art auction on December 3 as the kick-off to the Art of Giving exhibit for the month of December.
  5. The Marie Osmond Holiday Show at the Ridgefield Playhouse will feature members of Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra. Plus, the pre-show wine tasting in the lobby will feature an art exhibit by RPAC Art Center and Academy Artists!
  6. Join Grace Farms on December 9th for their annual evening of gifting along with local families and children. Together, with music and crafts that embody the spirit of the season, assemble care packages with essential items, write cards, and bring cheer to support our local community partner, The Center for Family Justice.
  7. The Ridgefield Chorale’s Annual Holiday Pops Concert will be held on December 11 at The Ridgefield Playhouse and proceeds benefit RVNAhealth Well-Child Clinics for uninsured children. 
  8. The Founders Hall-iday Light Fight is a contest in which Ridgefield contestants decorate their homes or businesses with holiday lights. Founders Hall invites the public to view these light displays from their vehicles during the hours of 6:00 – 10:00 pm on December 9- 18, 2022. The public will vote for their favorites by making a donation to Founders Hall to help further its mission of life-long learning.
  9. Add a touch of magic to your holiday season when Ridgefield Conservatory of Dance, a nationally recognized 501©3 nonprofit dance school, presents The Nutcracker at The Ridgefield Playhouse the weekend of December 9-11.
  10. Going on now through December 18, the Holiday Boutique in the Barn is back! Get into the holiday spirit and shop for everyone on your list all in one stop at our annual event, housed in the historic Keeler Tavern Museum and History Center Carriage Barn. Find a selection of art, books, jewelry, crafts, holiday ornaments, puzzles, and more. 
  11. Take the plunge into icy waters at the Ridgefield Penguin Plunge on December 18th at Martin Park to support more than 10,000 athletes of all abilities who participate in the sports training and competitions Special Olympics Connecticut offers year-round.
  12. Stop by The Prospector Theater anytime to enjoy a movie, and/or pick up gift cards and gourmet popcorn, the perfect treat for everyone on your list!
