State Representatives Jan Giegler (R-138) and John Frey (R-73) today welcomed Girl Scouts from Ridgefield Troop 50356 as part of the annual Girl Scout Day events at the State Capitol.
Troop members Cecilie Johnsrud, 12, Sarah Tewes, 12, Lauren and Alyssa Maiolo, both 13, and Gabby Mignano, 12, spent part of the day in the Hall of the House with Representatives Giegler and Frey where they got to see legislators in action during a busy legislative session day.
"I'm happy these girls, and Scouts from across our state, were able to visit the Capitol, talk to legislators and see the legislative process in action," Rep. Giegler, herself a former Girl Scout, said. "Scouting is about so many things, including empowering girls to reach for their dreams and become the future leaders of businesses, our state and even the country. I wouldn't be surprised if several of the girls at the Capitol today don't come back again as elected state officials."
"It was great to see the Girl Scouts at the Capitol today - it's always a pleasure to get visits from town," Rep. Frey said. "The girls were savvy and incredibly smart, and were eager to learn about the legislative process. I know how Scouting helps these girls grow and become empowered, and I can definitely tell these girls will go far."
The Girl Scouts of Connecticut (GSOFCT) is the largest organization serving girls and women in Connecticut. Their mission is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. The Girl Scouts is a great organization which empowers young ladies to become advocates and leaders in the communities.
