Connecticut Choral Society Hosts Musical Gala

Tickets are now available for ARIA: From Opera to Broadway, the Connecticut Choral Society’s spring gala fundraiser, on Sunday, April 3rd, 3:00 – 5:30 pm. The Alexandria Ballroom at Edmond Town Hall (45 Main Street, Newtown) will be transformed into an intimate cabaret where patrons will enjoy an afternoon of music, fine food and wine. The music program will feature soprano Megan Knapp and mezzo soprano Theresa Bucholz, accompanied by Linda Sweetman-Waters. Tickets ($75) are available at www.ctchoralsociety.org or by calling 888-927-2933. Patrons are advised to purchase tickets early, as this will be a sell-out event.

Soprano Megan Knapp, known for her exceptional artistry, rich tone, and versatility, has appeared both on the operatic stage and in concert as a soloist. She has performed in New York’s Carnegie Hall and Avery Fisher Hall, as well as in London’s Cadogan Hall. She has sung with the New York Philharmonic, the San Francisco Symphony, and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.

Mezzo soprano Teresa Buchholz, noted for her colorful, clear voice and thoughtful interpretation in both oratorio and opera, was the winner of the female division in the Nico Castel International Master Singer Competition at Carnegie Hall. She has been a featured soloist with the Israel Philharmonic with Zubin Mehta conducting in Tel Aviv, Israel and Vienna. She has appeared in leading roles in opera companies and has had engagements with notable choral ensembles and in festivals.
