St. Mary School Alum Pays It Forward

St. Mary School alum Cara Capilli (SMS Class of 2010) recently spent time volunteering in Amanda Johnson and Stacy Mullins 3s class at St. Mary Preschool. She is shown in this photo with St. Mary Preschool students.

“Cara is an education major at Catholic University, and volunteers at SMS whenever she is home,” St. Mary School wrote on their Facebook Page.

Part of the Class of 2018 at Catholic U, Cara is currently completing her practicum at Ross Elementary School in Washington, DC.

Cara credits her tutelage at St. Mary’s with her desire to pursue a career in education. She has been volunteering in St. Mary School classrooms during school breaks for several years.

“I was inspired to be a teacher since I was a student at St. Mary School because I had such wonderful, caring, and committed teachers who cared about the whole student.”

Last week, Cara moved one step closer to achieving her dream of being a classroom teacher. She passed the Praxis exam, and is now officially certified to teach students in grades 1-6.

Congratulations Cara and thank you for giving back to your community!
