Manheim "Manny" Eckhaus

On Monday, October 16, 2017, Manheim "Manny" Eckhaus died peacefully after a brief illness. He was predeceased by his sister Fay. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ethel, his daughter Phyllis of New York, NY and his son Peter of Ridgefield, CT.
 
Manny was born January 1, 1922 in Brooklyn, NY, son of Hyman and Pearl (Applebaum) Eckhaus. He attended Brooklyn Technical College before enlisting in the Army at the beginning of World War II. He served in the Philippines and Hawaii as a Technical Sargent, repairing instruments for weapons systems. After the war, Manny went to work for the then fledgling IBM Corporation. He met his future wife Ethel in 1946 and they married in 1949. Manny's job took them many places, living in New York, California, and Paris, France. Manny and Ethel found Ridgefield after returning from Europe and made it their home for the last 47 years.
 
Manny's passions were his family and friends, his pets, the Uconn Lady Huskies and the beautiful New England fall foliage.
Family and friends are welcome to attend funeral services, which will be held at Noon, Friday, October 20, 2017 at Kane Funeral Home, Ridgefield.
 
Donations in Manny's memory can be made to the American Kidney Fund, Smile Train and Doctors Without Borders.
