Broadway Tunes & Comedy Kicks Off Festival of Trees & Honor First Couple of Ridgefield

Friday, November 17th kicked off the 15th Annual Ann’s Place Festival of Trees at Danbury’s Crowne Plaza hotel. In addition to more than 100 trees,  raffle tickets also got you the chance to win 100’s of prizes- everything from a Kyack and $2500 gift certificate for jewelry to Flat Screen TV’s and then some.

But, the crown jewel of Friday night’s event was the entertainment that was brought together to honor the First Couple of Ridgefield.  Rudy and Peggy Marconi have dramatically improved the quality of life for area citizens in their hometown and in the Greater Danbury region through their leadership. Their volunteerism has helped Cancer patients, domestic violence victims, Lyme Disease research, substance abuse recovery, and as well as their support of the arts and cultural programs that enrich lives of all ages.

To show their support, many people came together Friday night- including a special salute performed by Allison Stockel and Christine O’Leary, both of The Ridgefield Playhouse, as they belted out a version of Chicago’s “When You’re Good To Mama” with the lyrics changed to “When You’re Good to Peggy, Rudy’s Good to you!”

Ira Joe Fisher emceed the event which was capped off with several performances by Broadway’s own Bryan Perri, Daniel C. Levine and Katie Diamond, who are all involved with the soon to open ACT of CT.  Also singing was The Ridgefield Chorales Daniela Sikora.

All four performers sang to standing ovations.

“It was simply the best night and tribute ever,” Said Peggy Marconi. “It was a special night for me and Rudy as well as for Ann’s Place.”

The monies raised from the Festival of Trees (which runs through Sunday, November 19th until 4pm) go directly to benefit Ann’s Place. It is only with the community involvement that Ann’s Place can continue delivering comprehensive clinical, wellness and educational services to our neighbors living with cancer completely free of charge.
