Chamber & Women's Forum Committee Names Christy Kinsman Woman of the Year

The Chamber of Commerce Annual Women’s Forum celebrates women across all business and entrepreneurial spectrum who make a difference every day in the community. A highlight of the Annual Forum is honoring the Woman of the Year.

The Ridgefield Chamber of Commerce has proudly announced that Christy Kinsman, the co-owner of the Angel Cooperative is the is the 2018 Woman of the Year. She will be recognized at this year's Women's Forum on Friday, May 4. Chamber Executive Director, Jennifer Zinzi and members of the Women's Forum committee made a surprise visit to the Angel Cooperative today, flowers in hand, to share the good news with Christy!

The community is invited to celebrate Christy and her good works during the Ridgefield Chamber of Commerce 13th Annual Women’s Forum on Friday, May 4, from 9 to 2:30 at the Salem Golf Club, North Salem, N.Y. Tickets are on sale NOW on the Destination Ridgefield website.

Christy, who is home stager and award-winning interior decorator, has been in retail for almost 15 years and owned The Little House Shoppe from 2011-17.  She has been featured on HGTV and HGTV.com. She is the Reader's Choice for Best Home Stager 2018 ( Ridgefield Magazine).  Christy has been an active member of The Ridgefield Chamber of Commerce serving on the Retail Council and as Chair of the Board. She has been a model for the annual Ann’s Place Fashion Show and a contestant for the RVNA’s Spelling Bee. She enjoys being a member of the Ridgefield Playhouse Gala Committee. She is also President of the Board for her daughter’s charity BearHug. Christy holds a Master's degree from the University of Pennsylvania.

The theme of this year’s Women’s Form is Lift as you Climb. The event will feature a keynote address by Sally Helgesen, acclaimed author whose newest book How Women Rise will be released in April 2018. Her groundbreaking The Web of Inclusion: A New Architecture for Building Great Organizations was cited in The Wall Street Journal as one of the best books on leadership ever and is credited with bringing the language of inclusion into business. Helgesen is also a motivational speaker and leadership consultant.

Additional speakers are Martha Morris, Licensed Master of Social Work and former Associate Publisher of TownVibe who recently opened a private psychotherapy practice in Ridgefield. Martha received her Master's in Social Work with a specialization in children and families, from Fordham University. She works with adolescents and adults with issues around depression, anxiety, school performance, family adjustments, career stresses, grief, and more. In her practice, she helps clients to maximize healthy coping skills and minimize or replace unhealthy ones so they can live their best life.

Also speaking at the Women's Forum is Amy Polacko, a former award-winning journalist and now runs a multi-million dollar vegan health and wellness business. She is an Executive Regional Vice President with Arbonne International and has built a global business team from the ground up. Amy is a graduate of Columbia Journalism School and worked as a newspaper and television reporter for over ten years, winning part of a team Pulitzer Prize at Newsday. She later transitioned to public relations, working as a PR executive for Pepsi and then as the Editorial Director at Vassar College.

The ever-growing and popular Women’s Forum invites women to share their experiences and hopes while supporting women making a difference in business and in life. The day includes speakers, shopping, relaxation stations, brunch and more.
