Beatrice F. Simkins, 97, of Ridgefield, CT; formerly of York, PA; passed away on Monday, May 7, 2018. For 69 years she was the loving wife of the late Marvin W. Simkins, who passed in 2014.
Mrs. Simkins was born on October 19, 1920 in Philadelphia, PA; a daughter of the late James and Celia (Snyder) Flait. Bea graduated from Olney High School and earned a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from Temple University. She taught in the Philadelphia school system and in York city schools. She served as president of Hadassa and was very active in community affairs. Bea was a long standing member of Ohev Shalom Congregation, served as President of Sisterhood, and was President of the York Chapter of Hadassah. Over the 65 years Bea lived in York, she continued to be active in Community affairs.
She was predeceased by her son, Richard D. Simkins and is survived by her daughter, Barbara Simkins and her partner Natacha Merav Friedman of Ridgefield; her sister Idell Corson of Silver Spring, Maryland, and many nieces, nephews and their families.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at 11:30am, Temple Beth Israel, 2090 Hollywood Drive, York, PA. Interment will be private.
