Ridgefield Youth Lacrosse Announces Fundraiser for Fellow Lax Member Connor Curran, Support & Donations Appreciated!

Ridgefield Youth Lacrosse (RYL) is spearheading an effort to help out a local RYL family whose son Conner, a 2nd grader at BMES, needs all the support we can give him! Two years ago, Conner Curran was diagnosed with a serious disorder called Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a rare disease that impacts the muscles.

Connor's family started a nonprofit to help their young son, and all diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, called Kindness over Muscular Dystrophy. Learn more about their mission for a cure here. Support Connor and the Curran family by making a donation here.

Connor has two brothers and enjoys playing games and watching baseball with. But unlike his siblings, Conner cannot play lacrosse, swim, or engage in any activities that would be too taxing for him physically. This is because 3 years ago, Conner was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). DMD is a progressively fatal genetic disorder causing major muscle weakness in the limbs and trunk and serious medical issues in the heart and respiratory system.

Conner's parents, Chris and Jessica, have spent countless hours fighting for more awareness and advocating for families affected by this horrible disease. Their family has worked tirelessly to raise thousands of dollars for research. Quitting is not in their vocabulary.

Now is the time for us to step up and show the Currans they are not alone in striving to give Conner the best care and opportunities in his fight against DMD. "With this fundraiser, RYL players will exemplify what it means to be a team and to work toward a goal that's greater than ourselves," explains RYL fundraiser organizers.

The funds we raise will help the Currans to enroll Conner in clinical trials, support his daily needs, and continue to adapt to Conner's changing physical situation and future needs.

"Our RYL teams will be working hard to crush it the weekend of June 2/3 to benefit Conner and raise awareness about DMD. This is a TEAM effort, not based on individual goals scored but on what the team can do together as every position counts! You can donate a set amount, or pledge per goal scored in 2 games (each team is aiming for 7 goals per game). No amount is too small," RYL explains.

"We appreciate the incredible support of the RYL family very much and know that the Currans do as well!" says RYL.
