At their June 11th meeting, the Board of Education approved the contract for the Business Manager position at Ridgefield Public Schools and welcomes Dawn M. Norton, effective July 9, 2018.
Ms. Norton brings over ten years of municipal experience in Connecticut to the role of business manager, having served as Interim Director of Finance to the Town of Clinton, Director of Finance for the Town of New Canaan, and Interim Director of Finance and Comptroller to the city of Bridgeport. She received her Master of Science in Management Degree from Albertus Magnus College and is State of Connecticut Bureau of Education Standards (085) Certified for School Business Administration.
The search committee included members of the business department, district and building administrators, members of the Board of Education and the Town of Ridgefield Director of Finance, Kevin Redmond. There were eighteen applicants; the final candidates were required to complete a performance task, and Ms. Norton’s strengths indicated to the committee that she could not only address the key tasks of the job, but also improve protocols and practices for the betterment of the district.
Dr. Miller led the search committee and his recommendation to the BOE highlighted Ms. Norton’s extensive experience on the municipal side of finance, having worked with town councils, boards of selectmen, and boards of finance. She will be a valuable asset to the district team as it navigates a path that strengthens the Ridgefield Public Schools’ work with the town government.
