Services planned for Jane R. Ventrella, 89, of Ridgefield

Jane R. Ventrella, 89, of Ridgefield, formerly of Norwalk and Bethel, passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2018. She was the loving wife of the late Michael Robert Ventrella.

Mrs. Ventrella was born in Norwalk, CT on February 25, 1929; a daughter of the late Peter and Ruth (Johnson) Romano. A gifted student, Mrs. Ventrella graduated from Norwalk High School in 1947 and was a member of the National Honor Society. Prior to starting her family, she worked at CR Gibson and Nash Engineering. Years later, she returned to her career at Eaton Corporation in Bethel.Her greatest pride in life was raising her family of seven children.  

A resident of Ridgefield for the past three years, Mrs. Ventrella lived most of her life in Norwalk and Bethel. A devout Catholic with unequivocal faith in God, she attended St. Joseph and St. Thomas Churches in Norwalk and was also a Eucharistic Minister at St. Mary’s Church in Bethel. She was a member of the Red Cross, St. Mary’s Women’s Guild in Norwalk/Weston and St. Joseph’s Catholic Club. She was an active contributor to the prayer line and participated in various fundraisers and volunteer roles.

She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, taking photographs and playing Chinese Checkers, Scrabble and cards with her friends and family. She was a gifted artist who attended classes at Dorothy Hepford Wilcox Studio in Norwalk and enjoyed watercolor painting and drawing.

Mrs. Ventrella is survived by her children: Tom Ventrella, Neil Ventrella, Scott Ventrella and his wife, Catherine, Jerry Ventrella, Marilyn Erwin and her husband, Rick, Karen Walsh and Catherine Talbot. In addition, she is survived by 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Ventrella was predeceased by her husband, Bob; her parents and a sister, Marilyn Louise.

Friends will be received on Thursday, June 28, 2018 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Kane Funeral Home; 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 10:15 AM at St. Mary Church; 55 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Norwalk. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital: 501 St. Jude Place; Memphis, TN 38105, www.stjude.org
