Former Ridgefield resident Tracy Anne Pappas, 49, has died

Tracy Anne Pappas, 49, of Danbury, formerly of Ridgefield, passed away on Monday, October 8, 2018.

Tracy was born in New Rochelle, NY on December 16, 1968, the second daughter of Anthony and Barbara (Heaney) Pappas. Tracy went through the Ridgefield school system and didn’t let childhood cancer stop her from doing what she loved most, including diving, swimming and gymnastics. She brought joy and happiness to anyone she met and her contagious laughter could brighten any room.

Tracy earned an Associate’s Degree from Mattatuck Community College and later worked as a retail salesperson for Macy’s and JC Penney.

Ten years ago, Tracy became a resident at Glen Hill Center; here, she continued her love of painting with watercolors and acrylics and she also enjoyed bowling and bingo. She was always ready with a smile and a hug to residents and staff alike and made everyone feel better from it.

Tracy will be remembered by all she met as a bright ray of sunlight who thought of others before herself and made everyone around her feel special. Her bravery and courage were characteristics that guided her through her life and touched everyone around her. While we mourn our loss, we will always be grateful for the example of courage that she set every day.

Tracy is survived by her parents, Tony and Bobbie Pappas; her brother, James Pappas and his wife, Mary Kay, and her sister, Nancy Sharpe and her husband David. In addition, Tracy is survived by her nieces and nephews whom she loved and was so proud of; Andrew, Jake and John Pappas and Isabel and Oliver Sharpe.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 12, 2018 at 10:15 AM at St. Mary’s Church, 55 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. Interment will be private, there will be no calling hours.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Glen Hill Center - Residents' Council in memory of Tracy Pappas: 1 Glen Hill Road, Danbury, CT 06811.
