Town of Ridgefield Seeks Volunteer for Boards and Committees

Vacancies exist on several Town committees.  Information about each committee as well as its specific duties are listed below.

Affordable Housing Committee

The Ridgefield Affordable Housing Committee’s goal is to ensure families of low or moderate incomes and our elderly citizens can live in a beautiful community such as Ridgefield.  The Committee keeps track of the affordable units owned by the Town of Ridgefield, owned by private development companies, or owned by private citizens as accessory dwelling units.

Architectural Advisory Committee

The AAC provides timely opinions and advice to the Planning and Zoning Commission about architectural designs and materials of proposed buildings, structures and/or other construction, landscape and site plans, lighting, and signage—to keep it in harmony with the New England village character of Ridgefield and preserve and improve the Town’s appearance and beauty. 

Cable TV Advisory Council

Bethel, Ridgefield and Danbury—3-town council to address cable issues; Ridgefield representation consists of 3 residents and 1 BOE representative.

Commission for the Disabled

The Commission for the Disabled advocates for the rights and needs of citizens with disabilities.  They advise the Board of Selectmen and other Ridgefield officials in ways they can improve public facilities and accommodations, allowing them safe access throughout town.

Economic & Community Development Commission

The ECDC seeks to implement orderly and planned economic development in keeping with the character of the Town.  The ECDC is currently looking for candidates who have a business background and knowledgeable in website maintenance that uses a word press platform. Insurance & Risk Management Committee (IRMC)

The IRMC members provide advice and counsel to the Board of Selectmen on Town insurance and risk-related matters.

Parking Authority 

The Parking Authority shall have the power to establish rules and regulations for the parking of motor vehicles within the Town.  The Parking Authority shall have the ability to levy fines and lay out parking areas.  

Ridgefield Prevention Council

The RPC is dedicated to providing information and education to our community in an effort to support families and reduce high-risk behaviors in our youth population.  The RPC offers programs to build awareness through educational outreach, youth leadership initiatives, community events.

Ridgefield Arts Council

The Arts Council works in promoting the Ridgefield arts community through collaborating with arts professionals, organizations, businesses, the Town of Ridgefield, and local citizens. They work in expanding artistic opportunities for the Ridgefield community by planning and supporting events and initiatives.

Youth Commission

The Youth Commission, consisting of both youth and adult members, advocates for the youth of Ridgefield.  They work toward increasing participation, planning, and development by the community of youth services.  The Commission is currently seeking adult members (age 18 and over).
