Ridgefield resident, US Navy vet, Don Donigi has died

Carmine J. Donigi (“Don”), 88, of Ridgefield, passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2018. He was the loving husband of Mrs. Charlotte (Little) Donigi.

Mr. Donigi was born in New York City on February 26, 1930; son of the late Joseph and Rose (Vanni) Donigi. He grew up on the Grand Concourse and Fordham Road, Bronx.
 
A 5-year Veteran of the US Navy during the Korean War, Mr. Donigi served honorably as a Communications Specialist of the Admiral’s Staff. 
 
After marrying and starting his family, he joined DuArt Film Laboratories (now DuArt Media Services) in NYC. Over the course of 50 years, he rose to Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, and worked with the most celebrated motion picture film makers, directors and cinematographers of our time. His technical expertise included creation and development of a computerized frame count and cueing system for negative preparation, timing and color correction - earning DuArt a Technical Academy Award.
 
As a reflection of the respect and confidence of the cinematographers with whom he worked, he was inducted into the American Society of Cinematographers. 
 
After retiring from business, he embraced his ‘job’ as Grandpa. The Donigi’s moved to Ridgefield in 1998. He loved sharing his life’s experiences with everyone. 
 
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Charlotte and his two daughters, Donna Donigi-Gale and Laura Richardson (Roland). Mr. Donigi is also survived by grandchildren, David, Elizabeth, Jonathon, Radiance and Vanella as well as sisters, Theresa Marino and Joan Miller and a granddog, Samson.
