Robert V. Johnston, 71, of Ridgefield, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 4, 2018. He was the loving husband of the late Stephanie Kurfirst.
Mr. Johnston was born in Staten Island, NY on April 22, 1947; a son of the late Francis and Alice (Cosgrove) Johnston. Mr. Johnston earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics from St. Peter’s University, and a Masters in counseling from Jersey City State University.
Mr. Johnston was a senior human resource executive, working for Price Waterhouse & Cooper, Merrill Lynch, KPMG, and Deloitte & Touche, serving as a healthcare recruiter. Prior to embarking on a career in healthcare, Mr. Johnston was a professor at the Long Island University School of Business.
Mr. Johnston resided in Ridgefield since 1994. He enjoyed fishing, flying remote control airplanes, and boating. He was a member of the American Legion Post 78 and he was a Support Group Leader of the Alzheimer’s Association Ridgefield Chapter.
He is survived by his two sons: Matthew and Stephen Johnston, as well as two sisters: Carol and Mary Ann Johnston.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 10, 2018 at 10:30 AM, at St. Elizabeth Seton Church; 520 Ridgebury Road, Ridgefield. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Ridgefield. Friends will be received on Sunday, December 9, 2018 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at Kane Funeral Home; 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield.
