When Nick Watsik retired from corporate life after a three-and-a-half decade career, he did not rest on his laurels. He did not take up shuffleboard! He promptly embraced a second life as a Lifeline Installer with RVNA. A decision RVNA appreciates daily.
In his new role, Nick provides peace of mind and security to his clients by outfitting them with the Lifeline medical alert system, a simple device that allows them to live independently while ensuring they have immediate access to help when they need it.
Plus, Nick has made a few friends along the way. That’s just the kind of guy he is!
Get to know… Nick Watsik.
Where did you grow up and where do you live now?
I grew up and went to school in New Jersey. My wife and I moved to CT in 1991 and moved to Ridgefield in 1993.
How long have you been at RVNA?
I have been with RVNA for a little over 1 year.
What brought you here?
I retired from IBM after 35 years and I was looking for part-time work. This opportunity came along and since I enjoy working with people, it seemed like the perfect fit.
Describe your role at RVNA?
I install, maintain, and troubleshoot Lifeline medical alert systems.
What is your favorite part of your job?
I enjoy working with our clients to provide solutions to them that enable them to remain in their homes. Additionally, I have met some fascinating people with interesting life stories.
Having elderly parents, I understand the need for Lifeline services. My role as a Lifeline installer has allowed me to use that knowledge to better relate to our clients.
What do you love to do when you’re not working?
Attend college sporting events (football, volleyball, soccer, field hockey).
What is your hidden talent?
Fixing or repairing things (cars, home repair, do-it-yourself types of activity).
What would you do if you won the lottery?
Finish paying off our kids’ college tuition and travel with my wife and kids!
Do you have a favorite RVNA moment or story?
While installing a new Lifeline system, I met a client that was a member of the WAAF (Women’s Auxiliary Air Force) during WW II in England. She had very interesting stories of her experiences during the war, including those of her sister, who was one of the code breakers at Bletchley Park.
What’s your favorite movie?
Patton.
If you could only eat one food for a year, what would it be?
Pizza!!
