Ridgefield Resident and American Legion Post 78 Member, Jimmy Giambartolomei Jr., 87, has Died

Vincent J. “Jimmy” Giambartolomei Jr., 87, died peacefully December 27, 2018 at his home with the love and comfort of his family around him. 

He was born in Ridgefield, CT., on February 9, 1931 the son of Vincenzo J. and Mary (Belardinelli) Giambartolomei. He is a graduate of Ridgefield High School Class of 1948. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. Prior to moving to Bedford, New Hampshire in April 2002, he was a lifelong resident of Ridgefield, CT. 

He was the owner/ operator of Sunset Corp. Trucking Co. He was a member of the Italian – American Mutual Aid Society organizing monthly dinners and events. Vincent was a member of the American Legion in Ridgefield, Post 78 and Bedford, Post 54, where he was a Post Service Officer. 

Upon moving to Bedford he became an active volunteer of Catholic Medical Center logging over four thousand hours. 

Family members include his wife of 64 years, Barbara (Mishico) Giambartolomei of Bedford, four children, Donna Stevens and her husband, John of Florida, Gina Nielsen (husband, Stephen, dec.) of Indiana, Barbara Paredes and her husband, Glennon of Massachusetts, and, Vincent J. Giambartolomei III and his wife, Julie of New Hampshire. He was blessed with four grandchildren, Cassandra Nielsen, Christian James Nielsen, Isabelle Paredes, and Matthew Giambartolomei.  One brother, Americo Giambartolomei of Florida, two sisters, Molly Gallagher (dec.), Gloria Caponera and her husband, Michael of Massachusetts, sister in laws, Frances Butera and Patricia Mishico of Connecticut and several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 10:15 AM at St. Mary’s Church; 55 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ridgefield. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Jimmy’s name to Home, Health & Hospice, 210 Naticook Rd, Merrimack, NH 03054, or to the American Heart Association, 2 Wall St #104, Manchester, NH 03101. Kane Funeral Home, Ridgefield is in charge of funeral arrangements.
