Spring is around the corner, now is the time to be Master the Green
Ridgefield resident Joe Lane (aka Master of the Green) brings the green, aids, and expertise to your home. When we’re done and you’ve practiced the basics at home, 2-putt greens will be the rule rather than a miracle for 2019.
Why hasn’t the average handicap for amateurs improved in 100 years? Because golfers try to fix bad swings and wild putts while playing. Why? They’re too busy living to go to a practice range most days.
Fixing a slice or improving putting on the course cannot work, you’re focused on scoring. Is there a remedy for much of what generates those gargantuan numbers? Yes.
First, most rewarding (for your scorecard), is putting. Amateurs waste more strokes on the green than anywhere else. Half of the shots in a round are on the green.
How hard do you hit a putt to make it go, say, 20 feet – on a relatively flat green – five times in a row – +/- 6 inches? If you played 18-20 rounds a month, 11 months a year, you’d know the answer.
A simple home practice station in your hallway or basement, a few minutes most days before bedtime – you’re there. I spent 15+ years researching and working with busy people making that work. You want to master the greens for 2019, start now.
