Founders Hall to honor longtime supporter Brenda Berta with Community Volunteer Award

Founders Hall will honor Ridgefield resident and philanthropist Brenda Berta with their Community Volunteer Award. Berta will be recognized this Thursday, April 25 during Founders Hall Volunteers Luncheon.

Here, Founders Hall asks Berta about what fuels her longtime commitment to Founders Hall.

How did you first learn about Founders Hall?

Through my husband's bank, Fairfield County Bank. They are long-time supporters of Founders Hall.

Can you share a bit about why you continue to volunteer at Founders Hall?

I love what Founders Hall serves to our community.  It is a blessing to know that there is a place for folks to go and spend the day with friends doing things they love.

Any special story or insight that you can share regarding your time volunteering at Founders Hall?

I guess the shopping days in the city with our little boutique team.  We have been doing it for years and have it down to a science on where to buy, what to bring, and how to spread out and get the job done all in ONE day!  We leave there exhausted but have a lot of laughs throughout the day.

I could never have set out to do this without the help of my father in law Tom Berta who has been the best "dad" to me for the past 29 years.  We have a great time shopping and hunting for items and then putting it all together to see the final outcome!  I enjoy spending time with him and this project gave me that opportunity in spades.

Tell me about your background and why you decided to volunteer at Founders Hall

I am retired from JPMorgan Chase and was a VP of Marketing/Sales and Event Planning there so, I decided to volunteer using what I had done for so many years at Chase.  It is a great fit for helping organizations with event planning and how to market their events.

Do you volunteer anywhere else?

Yes, Ridgefield High School PTA, RVNA, and the Women's Center.

When you’re not volunteering, how do you like to spend your time?

I play tennis, paddle tennis and golf with my friends, kids and husband.  I love going out to dinner and the movies with my family and friends both old and new!
