Ridgefield's Finest Promoted in Ceremony at The Lounsbury House

Congratulations are in order for two of Ridgefield's finest. Today, in a ceremony at the Lounsbury House, Ridgefield Police Officer Brian Durling was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and Shawn Murray to the rank of Sergeant.

Before taking the Oath of Office conducted by Town Clerk Wendy Lionetti, an Invocation was given by St. Mary Parish Monsignor Bronkiewicz and Chief Kreitz, First Selectman Rudy Marconi, and Police Commissioner George Kain spoke in earnest about the two officers accomplishments and community commitment. "Of all of the people we interviewed, they [Durling and Murray] have risen to the top. We are gathered here to show them how proud we are," said Kain.

Durling, who joined the force in 2007 as a Patrol Officer, has served as a Detective and most recently a Sergeant. He has received the Department's Exceptional Service Award for heroic acts and the Heartsaver Hero Award from the American Heart Association.

Murray, who was once a RHS Football Coach, joined the Department in 1997. In 2009, he raised the funds necessary to bring the K9 Unit to Ridgefield. Together with Zeus, and now Loki, Murray has worked tirelessly to serve the Department. He has been named Officer of the Year three times and received the Department's Exceptional Service Award for heroic acts.

The ceremony came to a close following a Benediction given by Reverend Pfohl.
