Allie Cauchon Makes Ridgefield History as First Youth of the Year to Win on the State Level

On Wednesday evening, May 15, at the State Capitol in Hartford, history was made for the Boys & Girls Club of Ridgefield. Ridgefield high school senior, and Boys & Girls Club 2019 Youth of the Year, Allie Cauchon was named Boys & Girls Club of Connecticut Youth of the Year!

"We are beyond excited and proud to announce that tonight Allie was selected as the CT State Youth of the Year, amongst 15 other Boys & Girls Clubs Youth of the Year candidates," the Club announced on their Facebook Page late Wednesday night. "She is the first ever Ridgefield Youth of the Year to win at the state level," they added.

Earning the honor on the Town level is no small feat - and winning on the State level is extremely coveted and bestowed upon exemplary young leaders.

“Being the first ever Connecticut State winner from Ridgefield is surreal. It was such an honor to be a part of, and to represent BGCR, and our Club members," Allie said.

Being named Youth of the Year is the highest honor a Boys & Girls Club member can receive. Allie credits the Club staff and programming for helping her to be the best version of herself. She defines herself as resilient - an attribute that has helped her grow, lead and achieve, despite significant challenges and obstacles she has encountered.

Allie’s enthusiasm for life and the Club is contagious. As a six-year member of the Club, Allie has clocked more than 320 volunteer hours, serves as a mentor for Kids Club, co-chaired the Club’s Community Service Committee, and currently services as Keystone Club Vice President. Allie has done this and more at the Club while taking a total of six AP classes, being a member of the National Honor Society at Ridgefield High School, playing the Cello, and finding time to hone her dance skills - something she’s been passionate about for fifteen years.

"The Boys & Girls Club has changed my life in ways I never thought possible. My Club family keeps growing, and I couldn’t be more thankful," Allie remarked.

Congratulations, Allie! Ridgefield is proud of you!
