Ridgefield Resident Mackenzie Robson Plays on Women's Soccer Team at ECSU

The women's soccer team at Eastern Connecticut State University recently began its fall 2019 season, with eight new players and 18 returning players.

Among the student-athletes on this year's team is number 9, Mackenzie Robson '23 of Ridgefield, who majors in Accounting and Finance. This is Robson's first year playing as an Eastern Warrior. Her position on the field is midfield.

The team's head coach, Chris D'Ambrosio, commented on the new soccer team's dynamic. "We added new freshmen to the mix and came off a really enthusiastic spring season. The chemistry, work ethic and enthusiasm was great and it is continuing to be like that."

D'Ambrosio also spoke on how diverse this year's team is position wise. "In the past years players' positions have been clearer, but this year I don't think it's going to be as clear, but that is good because that means we have a great depth of diversity in this year's team."

The Warriors compete in the Little East Conference (LEC), which was established in 1986 as a single-sport league by six public institutions throughout New England. The LEC has since become a multi-sport league with eight primary members, six affiliate members and 19 championships.

Eastern offers a broad-based, Division III athletic program aimed at safeguarding the amateur aspects of the various sports and maintaining the proper perspective of athletics within Eastern's academic mission. By placing emphasis on the values of equity, diversity, sportsmanship, health and wellbeing, Eastern's athletic program encourages students to contribute more effectively to our society and live richer, fuller lives.
