Ridgefield Native Mackenzie Mitchell Of Wesleyan University Women's Soccer Receives All-NESCAC Second-Team Honors

Mackenzie Mitchell of the Wesleyan University women's soccer team earned All-NESCAC Second Team honors, as voted on by the league's coaches and announced by the conference office.

Mitchell, a defender, earned her spot on the Second Team for her strong performances this season anchoring the Wesleyan defense. Mitchell has started all 16 contests this year, guiding her team to a 0.84 goals-against average which ranked fourth in the NESCAC. Since her sophomore year, Mitchell has played in all 47 contests.

Mitchell is from Ridgefield and previously attended Immaculate High School.

Mitchell helped lead Wesleyan to its best regular-season performance since 2011 with a 9-4-2 overall record and a 4-4-2 conference mark. This year, Wesleyan set a new program record for the longest unbeaten streak in a season with eight (6-0-2), surpassing the previous record of six that was set by the 1993 and 1981 teams. The Cardinals also won their third Little Three title and first since 1982.
