A Very Giving Friendsgiving: Local Business Owners Gather for a Cause

Food Blogger, Brenda Lanzilli of Salt Sugar Spice organized a team of local businesses to sponsor what she describes as "A Picture Perfect Friendsgiving" in the hopes of raising money for No Kid Hungry, a nation wide charitable organization that provides funds to support Federal Nutrition Programs such as: school breakfast, after school meal programs, and summer meal programs to over the 11 million children who are living in homes that are labeled as "food insecure" in the US.

"Because of my food blog, I was going to need to be cooking and documenting a full Thanksgiving meal weeks before the actual day of Thanksgiving in order to have the recipes ready to share on my website" she explained. "I saw this as a two fold opportunity- the first, to support and promote other local businesses, whose services could be umbrellaed under the niche market of hosting/entertaining by showcasing their talents in conjunction with my own. And the second, using the images produced to create eye catching content in order to raise money and awareness for "No Kid Hungry".

On November 9th the group of entrepreneurs gathered to showcase the value that their companies can provide to hosts looking to add a little extra panache to their festive gatherings.  Whip Salon provided hair and make up, Toran and Harper Interiors created a table scape and location, Jenn V Photography captured the images, Purple Heather Floral Design donated an arrangement, Stacey's Totally Baked whipped up dessert, wine importer Taub Family Selections chose wine pairings, 109 Cheese & Wine  created a cheeseboard, and Salt Sugar Spice provided the traditional Thanksgiving feast.

With Thanksgiving just a week away, holiday hosts in Ridgefield and the surrounding ares are bustling about planning, purchasing and preparing for their own holiday gatherings.  Outsourcing tasks to industry professionals can alleviate some of the stress that comes with the Holiday Season. And as these local business owners have demonstrated, gathering for a cause or getting involved with charities dear to your heart is the spirit of the season.
