Open for Registration! Theater Barn Kids Spring Workshop 2020: Screenplay to Broadway - Our Way

Registration is open for alumni and new students of the RTBK Musical Workshop Program, which starts on Tuesday, February 25and runs through April 30, with performances May 1 – 3. The Theater Barn Kids' Spring 2020 Musical Theater Workshop is full of movie-musical magic!  During this session, students in grades 3 through 9 will work with Program Director Missy Slaymaker-Hanlon, Musical Director Stefano Peña, and Vocal Coach Anya Caravella to learn the skills they need to perform their own musical production.

With an emphasis on education and teamwork, the workshop meets with students twice weekly: one afternoon each week in peer-groups to hone skills as well as Saturdays for rehearsing with their entire cast.  Dates and times for each of three separate casts can be found on our website registration page https://ridgefieldtheaterbarn.org/classes-and-workshops/kids-workshops/.

Our final project, a musical revue, will draw materials from Broadway shows that were inspired by movies.  Musicals such as The Wizard of OzFootlooseHairspraySinging In The Rain,  and other film classics will be explored.

Join our Student Crew! The crew volunteers their time to work with all casts and chooses to fill a backstage role. Stage manager, stagehand, set building, lighting and sound board ops, costumer, dresser, scenic artist is just a short list of the roles to be filled. Crew is assigned where the production needs them most. The work is rewarding and counts towards volunteer hours for school and religion classes. RTB is a non-profit organization.  For 10th grade and up, limit 6 students.
