AWESOME March MADNESS for the Tigers!
Congratulations to Ridgefield High School basketball teams! Both the girls and boy’s basketball teams took home FCIAC basketball titles. Only three times in the history of the FCIAC have both teams claimed conference history! The photo you see here shows the captains of both teams.
RHS senior Johnny Briody was named MVP! According to the Dave Ruden on Twitter @DaveRuden Briody hit five 3-pointers and finished with 15 points to win the FCIAC tournament - final score: Ridgefield 63, Trinity Catholic 58. Luke McGarrity was named FCIAC player of the year.
The RHS girls, 7th seed, beat Staples, the #1 seed 50 to 46. Dave Ruden said, “In a grinding game with repeated swings and momentum changes, Ridgefield completed the sizable of taking down the top three seeds, finishing with a 50-46 double-overtime win tonight over No. 1 Staples for its first FCIAC title since 2015 and fourth overall.” Team Captain Kate Wagner was named MVP.
